Opportunity Summary 

Backpack Medicine is an outreach program that provides services to the homeless communities, encampments, Streets and river bottoms throughout Ventura County. Backpack medicine works with law enforcement throughout the County of Ventura and State law enforcement. Backpack medicine is a physician driven program to deliver Healthcare needs to people experiencing homelessness and to navigate them back into the brick-and-mortar settings for treatment in Clinics setting. Special projects include Mobile showers, Mobile Medical Clinic, Addiction Medication-Assisted Treatment and Counseling services are available including addiction recovery programs and support. Vaccines and health screenings are available for any one, housing support and placement, shelter services, toiletries, clothing and meals. Backpack medicine

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Community engagement with vulnerable populations, That would include learning about addiction treatment with counseling, Medical Services, Social Service providers and how they all work.

Opportunity Training 

One on One training will be provided by One Stop staff and Medical staff. Program processes and intake, data collection and referrals.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

The outreach portion of the program requires jeans/long pants, hiking shoes/boots, head covering, and long sleeve shirt
