Opportunity Summary 

Enthusiastic self-starter needed for internship with variety and constant opportunity to “make a difference” in the community working with Breathe California, the clean air and healthy lungs leader. Work with creative motivated staff team to reach multiple target audiences with high-outcome programs. Program of focus will be environmental health education with stakeholders, adults and youth in the community.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will practice skills in areas of professional communication, collaboration, project management, cross cultural competency, knowledge of health & human services, professional development, and public policy analysis.

Opportunity Training 

Interns will attend orientation training to Breathe California plus attend specific environmental health program orientation. On the job training occurs regularly by watching and then emulating skills hands-on such as outreach activities, assist with stakeholder meetings, writing short narratives on meeting outcomes and follow ups and as documentation for evaluation, evaluating program progress for supervisor, using Canva to create social media posts, implementing health education programs for schools, parents, the general public (curriculum binder as resource), data entry into management systems.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Covid precautions followed on site with masking and social distancing. If event set up, training provided. Proper lifting techniques as needed.
