Opportunity Summary 

Graduate students in Speech Pathology are invited to join us at Spirited Play Labs to have direct learning experiences with disabled children and their families. They are able to learn from the specialists running the groups (i.e. OT, SLP, PT, music therapist, ECE, etc.), as well as learning from the direct experience of families with disabled or delayed children. They are able to have hands-on practice supporting children and their families in a natural, community-based setting.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

1. Understand parent coaching strategies and how to engage with families in a supportive way. 2. Experience a variety of therapeutic interventions that are neurodiversity-affirming and incorporate the whole community. 3. Practicing routines-based, natural therapeutic interventions in an inclusive setting.

Opportunity Training 

Much of the training will be hands-on during the time students are present in our facility. We are able to do problem solving and meetings if need to be continue to emphasize important points and to talk through any confusing issues or experiences.
