OtterCare at CSUMB

Program Information

OtterCare operates under the Director of Care within the Dean of Students Office. MSW interns play a pivotal role in delivering OtterCare supports and services to all enrolled CSUMB students. This internship offers hands-on experience in short-term, non-clinical care coordination within a higher education setting. Interns help advance a campus-wide culture of care that promotes student wellbeing, academic success, and equitable access to resources. Grounded in core social work values, the internship emphasizes early identification of student needs, practical problem-solving, and effective resource navigation. Interns conduct student intakes and assess basic needs including food security, housing stability, financial hardship, transportation and related concerns. They support students in accessing campus and community resources while collaborating with campus partners to reduce barriers and promote overall wellbeing. Interns may also participate in outreach events and collaborative meetings such as CARE Team. This is a paid internship and includes a BHWET placement opportunity.
