Organization Description

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation is a 501©3 nonprofit organization governed by a 22-member Board of Directors and supported by a staff of four full time professionals and a part-time office assistant. The Foundation's mission is to provide support to enhance the Long Beach Public Libraries and encourage literacy and education for all members of the community. Established in 1996 by concerned community members when Long Beach libraries ranked near the bottom nationwide in per capita spending, the Foundation has since raised over $26 million in endowment and program funds, supporting vital youth STEAM and literacy programs, and purchasing books, technology, and materials that cannot be supplied with existing City funds.
