Occupational Therapy Volunteer MentorshipAt — Outdoor Kids Occupational Therapy, Inc.

Opportunity Summary 

In this volunteer position, you'll assist with outdoor occupational therapy groups for children ages 4-10 who have disabilities. You'll gain valuable experience directly working with an occupational therapist, which is often required for occupational therapy program applications. We offer 90-minute after-school therapy groups and day camps from 9am-1pm during the summer months.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

1. How to handle children's behaviors using a relationship-based approach. 2. How to support children's social-emotional and sensory-motor development. 3. How nature benefits children's play and well-being.

Opportunity Training 

We have a volunteer manual and a series of video trainings for students to watch prior to their first day. All other training is done on-the-job.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students should be aware all services are provided outdoors in all kinds of weather, including rain. We only cancel if weather is unsafe (air quality, hail, high winds).
