Opportunity Summary 

The Clinical Biostatistics internship is designed for full- or part-time students pursuing an MS or MPH in Statistics or Biostatistics. The intern will work closely with an experienced clinical biostatistician to participate in the post-marketing support of oncology screening and diagnostic products. The individual will collaborate with internal team members in the design, analysis, reporting, and potential publication of a clinical study and real-world evidence generation.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Practical experience: Students will gain hands-on experience in applying statistical concepts and methods to clinical study data, specifically in the post-marketing support of oncology screening and diagnostic products. They will have an opportunity to work on challenging and meaningful projects and gain practical experience in data analysis, interpretation, and presentation. They will have an opportunity to participate in the generation of real-world evidence and potentially contribute to publications. Technical skills: Students will gain technical skills in statistical software packages and other data analysis tools, including SAS and R. They will be proficient in using statistical analysis techniques such as regression analysis, survival analysis, and longitudinal data analysis, as well as in the design, analysis, and reporting of clinical studies and real-world evidence generation. Professional development: Students will improve their professional skills such as communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and time management through their work with an experienced clinical biostatistician and internal team members. They will have an opportunity to work in a team environment and interact with professionals from diverse backgrounds and specialties. Networking opportunities: Students will have an opportunity to interact with professionals in the field of clinical biostatistics, oncology, and healthcare, including statisticians, clinicians, researchers, and industry experts, which may lead to future career opportunities.

Opportunity Training 

Orientation: We will provide an orientation program to introduce the student to our organization, its mission, and values. During this session, we will also provide an overview of the internship program, expectations, and deliverables. Technical Training: We will provide training on relevant technical skills and tools required to perform the tasks assigned to the student. This training may include, but not limited to, software applications, statistical analysis tools, and data management. On-the-job training: The student will work closely with a qualified supervisor, who will provide on-the-job training on the specific tasks and projects assigned to the student. The supervisor will provide guidance and feedback on the student's work and offer suggestions for improvement. Professional development: We will also provide training on professional development, including communication, time management, and team collaboration. This training will help the student develop the necessary skills and competencies needed to excel in their career.
