Impact Launch

Organization Description

Impact Launch is a collective of social impact professionals committed to supporting individuals, teams and collaboratives to work more effectively for equitable and sustainable outcomes.  In addition to over a decade of hands on experience in our own initiatives, we each have trained extensively with Dr. Monica Sharma, author of Radical Transformational Leadership and former Director of Leadership and Capacity Development for the United Nations.  Her framework for creating equitable results has produced measurable outcomes across the globe.

We bring this unique experience and expertise to the field of leadership development and collaboration for organizational and community change on issues such as racial equity, economic opportunity, housing & homelessness, criminal justice, behavioral health and more.

Together we help spark and sustain the next level of impact in individuals, organizations and communities through leadership development intensives, project design, the application of practical tools and ongoing support to breakthrough barriers.

Program Information

Impact Launch is a collective of social impact professionals committed to supporting individuals, teams and collaboratives to work more effectively for equitable and sustainable outcomes on issues ranging from homelessness and economic opportunity to criminal justice reform and more.
Our work is based on Dr. Monica Sharma’s social change framework, Radical Transformational Leadership (RTL). RTL provides a practical framework to generate equitable and enduring results using a unique response model based on extensive application world-wide in many sectors, themes and topics –the conscious full-spectrum response model. This model is designed for sourcing our inner capacities and wisdom to generate change that embodies universal values of dignity, compassion and fairness, and simultaneously transform unworkable systems and norms in order to solve problems.
Impact Launch helps spark and sustain the next level of impact in individuals, organizations, and collaboratives through learning communities, leadership development intensives, and the application of practical tools and ongoing support to break through barriers. Our services include leadership development, project design, strategic planning, collaborative capacity building, transformative meetings and events, and individual and team coaching.
Students will be asked to read Dr. Sharma’s book, Radical Transformational Leadership, as part of the internship.  Key responsibilities include: Support with social impact projects (i.e. conducting and summarizing research; producing communication; providing support on projects that address key societal issues such as behavioral health, housing, homelessness, food security, public safety); Support with leadership workshop sessions (i.e. admin support with participant registration and communication; support during the sessions); Support with communication plan (i.e. posting on social media; generating newsletter content); Support with city council duties (one of Impact Launch's co-founders is a  city councilmember).
The internship offers the opportunity to participate in Radical Transformational Leadership for Social Impact program Jan-May 2024.
Students will be exposed to the following frameworks: Collaboration; Conflict Resolution; Cross Cultural Competency; Information Management; Knowledge of Health and Human Services; Leadership; Personal and Professional Communication; Professional Development; and Public Policy Analysis.
At the end of the internship program, we expect students will: 1. Grow their inner capacities by gaining a greater awareness/understanding about the change they would like to see in their community (and the world!);
2) Gain the following competencies: Gain knowledge about pathways in which this change can be created; Understand the landscape of public health and social services in the communities we serve;
Understand the nuances of collaboration and community mobilization; 3) Obtain the following skills: Gain meeting coordination and facilitation skills;; Gain skills in notetaking and synthesizing;; Increase written and verbal communication skills with a variety of stakeholders; Increase Zoom meeting support skills.
Leadership capacity building and organizational development are crucial steps in effecting social change. Sometimes the nuances of collaboration and facilitation are overlooked in a traditional classroom setting. This internship program gives students hands-on experience and a glimpse into how organizations and groups from all over the United States are improving their efforts towards sustainable social change. The work takes detail, flexibility, dedication, and a passion for social justice.

We are seeking students who burn for social justice! And...
Are committed to a full academic year of internship;
Have the ability to work independently
Have strong verbal and written communication skills
Are detail oriented
Are responsible, accountable and flexible
Are enthusiastic and dedicated to impact social change!
