Caminar

Program Information

At Caminar, we provide a continuum of care for individuals and families with complex behavioral health needs in the California counties of San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Francisco, Solano, and Butte. Our professional services and programs holistically address the needs of those who come to us with interrelated mental health, substance use, physical health, and critical living needs, such as housing and employment. We also offer proven preventative and supportive services to individuals and families, such as family violence prevention, school-based mental health, and supportive housing.

Caminar offers vocational training/supportive employment, employment preparation, job coaching, supportive housing, and socialization programs. Within these programs the student learns to develop relationships with consumers, organize support and develop supportive resources. These programs offer one-on-one interactions as well as group interaction with the consumers when providing services.

The student intern should have a sense of investment in the outcomes of the work, be organized, accountable, collaborative, eager to learn on the job, can rebound from confrontational situations with consumers, manage both strucured days and unstructured days, adapt to needs of consumers daily, and have a positive attitude.
