Campaign InternAt — Evolve California
Evolve California is seeking fall interns in the Bay Area to participate in our grassroots effort to make education funding a priority over corporate tax breaks! Our internship is a rare opportunity to receive mentorship in grassroots organizing. We empower young people with hands-on experience that has a direct impact on our campaign to fully fund public education in California.
- Confidently and fully understand California’s Proposition 13, including specifics on: History, legacy, political background, and plans for future reform - Differentiate between “Grassroots Campaigns” vs. “Movement Building” - Understand the direct impact of Local Politics as well as the importance of getting our campaign involved - Recognize the importance of Organized Labor/Unions in the progressive movement - Learn important tactics used by our campaign both within the political system and auxiliary institutions, as well as relevant professional skills through multiple training sessions, including: Local and state politics crash courses, hidden side of ballot measures, charter schools and privatization, labor unions and worker power, year-round organizing - Understand the importance of Person to Person Organizing - Successfully participate in different Grassroots Mobilization Strategies while being conscious of playing to the strengths and goals of each one, such as: Social media, LTE, phonebanking, canvassing, door knocking, ballot measures
Before we ask our interns to go out and try for themselves, we provide comprehensive trainings. For digital activities, trainings usually take half an hour including time for practice. For field activities, we provide multiple day trainings, spaced out into one hour chunks.
With 2024 being an election year, we will be participating in multiple community events. This will require interns to help carry equipment to and from locations.
