Opportunity Summary 

The City of Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department has opportunities available for interns each semester to assist in the following work unites: 1.) Youth Services which includes, after school programs, aquatics, and preschool programs. 2.) Administration which includes registration, administrative functions and marketing. 3.) Senior and Therapeutic programs.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Youth Services students will learn to maintain, enhance, brainstorm new program ideas, assist with program implementation and provide direct support to programs and services. Administration students will learn an overview of the administrative functions of a recreation department, customer service via in person, by phone and electronically, cash handling, registration systems, record keeping, assist with creating marketing materials and social media posts, assist with writing program descriptions, proofreading/editing, taking photos and research. Senior and Therapeutic students will learn to maintain, enhance, brainstorm new program ideas, assist with program implementation and provide direct support to programs and services.

Opportunity Training 

Martin has already received mandated reporter, IIPP, first aid, active shooter and department related training specific to his role and responsibilities.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

As indicated above; Martin has received safety training specific to his position.
