Program Information

A student placed at Gerber will have the following learning opportunities:

  • Learning and applying behavior interventions and supports for students in distress or in crisis
  • Brokerage and linkage to identified community resources for students and families
  • Home visits to assess/identify student and family needs 
  • Providing pyschoeducation groups to both primary and secondary age students, using evidenced-based SEL curriculum
  • Shadow school counseling sessions to gain a better understanding of how to support students 
  • Parcipate in weekly, collaborative Social, Emotional, Behavioral team meetings to determine and address student needs 
  • Learn and assist with implementing a univeral screener to identify students at risk for social, emotional, or behavioral concerns
  • Assist teachers with classroom management, focusing on student behaviors and social, emotional well-being

Health & Safety

At times, students in crisis may present with aggressive behaviors, hurtful words, or unsafe behaviors towards self, and/or others. Home visits are done in a rural community with low socio-economic status and at times may be in isolated areas. Students should be comfortable using a radio for communication with other staff, comfortable speaking to parents and caregivers in English and Spanish (if applicable). There may be times when running is needed to help keep students safe

  • TB Test
  • Able to do home visits
  • Own car with evidence of insurance
  • Prefer Bilingual
