Opportunity Summary 

Union Volleyball Academy is looking for a passionate and dedicated Assistant Coach to join our team! This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced coaches in order to develop young athletes, helping them improve their skills, and fostering a positive, team-oriented environment. You’ll assist in coaching practices, providing individual feedback, and eventually learn the behind-the-scenes aspects of team management, event coordination, and strategy development, all while gaining hands-on experience to grow as a coach. If you're enthusiastic about volleyball and want to make a meaningful impact on youth athletes, we’d love to have you on our coaching team!

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned key coaching techniques, effective communication strategies, how to provide constructive feedback, and how to manage both individual player development and team dynamics. They will also gain a deeper understanding of the strategic and organizational aspects of running a successful volleyball team, preparing them to take on more advanced coaching roles in the future.

Opportunity Training 

1. Coaching fundamentals and philosophy (2 hrs) 2. Orientation (2 hrs)

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

- Injury prevention & safe coaching practices such as ensuring playing environment is correctly set up. We will also teach how to identify player's physical limits and creating safety guidelines such as playing boundaries. - weather related safety in case of extreme weather conditions such as heat. This can include modifying practice sessions
