SP25 CST 462S: Maps/Data-Related Infographics At — California Killer Whale Project (CKWP) and Monterey Bay Whale Watch (MBWW)

Opportunity Summary

We are looking for students to work on our opportunistic collection long-term data set to create maps or data-related infographics relating to different ecological events, oceanography, or species throughout Monterey Bay. We are flexible about the specific project and will work with you to assist with supporting your own research topic with our data or provide a list of potential topics you can work on.

Some previous projects students completed for us last semester have been a collaboration map between our organizations and Clean Ocean Initiative to provide locations for balloon trash collection from the ocean. As well as a seasonality map for Blue Whales and Harbor Porpoise. Other recurring topics that could use students again were yearly blue whale feeding behaviors based on ocean food abundance levels and Risso's Dolphin identification and interaction behaviors between individuals.
