Program Information

This placement is for MSW Foundation & Concentration year students.

Student interns will get an introduction to audits, grants, and funding sources, case management, and the clinical treatment team, Medi-Cal services, building skills within Medi-Cal services, community outreach and events pertaining to the Counseling program. 

Student interns should be/have:

  • willing to work with our demographic - low income, under-served, high ACE scores, generational cycles of abuse
  • quick learner as we use an electronic health record system
  • willing to work hard, ask for help when needed, and able to work with clients who have many life challenges
  • able to work with clients who may not have had good experiences with social services, relationship-building is key to this position when working with clients
  • mission driven, believes in the purpose of the services we provide
  • enjoys administrative components of the work we do, or at minimum has skills around administrative duties
Health & Safety

Student may have home visits with clients, travel throughout the county is necessary. NVCSS provides extensive training in the safety around home visits and travel. 

Additional requirements and/or considerations
  • Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
  • Able to do home visits
  • Prefer Bilingual
