Organization Description

Sutter-Yuba Behavioral Health (SYBH) provides services to individuals and families who are experiencing serious or ongoing mental health and/or substance use disorders in Yuba and Sutter Counties.

Program Information

LPS Department

The LPS Department treats and cares for individuals determined by the courts to be gravely diabled due to a mental disorder. Our clients tend to have multiple psychiatric hospitalizations with little to no improvement at the inpatient level. We case manage individuals at high levels of care, and also those at very low levels (even independent level housing). The student intern would be interacting with those at the lower level of our care spectrum. Some of the tasks that a student intern would be exposed to are:

  • Assessments/reassessments
  • Diagnosing and utilization of the DSM-5 manual
  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy/skill building activities
  • Treatment planning
  • Development of policy and procedures (macro level) (observation only)

The student would be trained in Adult Outpatient Urgent Services for the first few months of this placement.

This placement is for a MSW student.
