Nonprofit Mental Health Intern At — Nested Integral Coaching Constellation (NI2C)

Opportunity Summary 

NI2C's fully remote internships provides the opportunity for students to participate in various professional development activities related to operating a small non-profit. You will choose a project team that suits you (e.g. assist with academic research, community partner organization outreach, grant research and writing to secure funding opportunities). In addition you will participate in our weekly group support session that provides trauma-informed education and skill building for people impacted by interpersonal trauma.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Outcomes vary based on project teams. Fundraising Events Committee -Work on a team with NI2C’s executive director to recruit thought leaders in the field of mental health & recovery to deliver workshops as a part of NI2C’s fundraising series “Learning & Healing Together”, create artwork, graphic design, and update flyers and webpage to create materials to promote the events, and reach out to the community to enroll participants. -This team is ideal for those who want to learn more about mental health education and nonprofit fundraising & outreach. Grant Writing Team -Work on a team with multiple experienced supervisors to write grant proposals, LOIs, and grant reports to secure funding for programs and operations for NI2C. -Learn how to access grant databases and conduct grant research to find well aligned opportunities for funding. -This team is ideal for those who want to learn more about proposal writing, nonprofit development, and how to fund nonprofit programs. Digital Outreach Team -Work on a team with supervisors from the Emerging Leadership Council to build a social media calendar complete with content to promote mental health advocacy, inspire collective healing in the community, and increase followers and engagement for NI2C’s social media channels. -This team is ideal for those who want to learn more about mental health advocacy and digital outreach. Podcast Team -Work on a team with supervisors from the Emerging Leadership Council to design, record, edit, produce, and publish season 3 of the Nested Healing Podcast. Roles available on this team: host(s), production assistant, post-production editor. -This team is ideal for those who want to learn more about mental health topics by inviting and interviewing podcast guests, and making this content available to the community. Guided Meditation & Educational Video Production Team -Work on a team with supervisors from the Emerging Leadership Council to develop a meditation practice learning several styles of meditation, write your own scripts, and produce audio/video recordings of guided mediations and short educational videos. -This team is ideal for those who want to learn more about producing multimedia mental health curriculum videos and make this content available to the community. Peer Resource Navigation & Enhanced Care Management Training Team -Work on a team with NI2C’s executive director to learn nonclinical case management and peer resource navigation skills. Receive training in how to conduct a new client intake, draft an individual care management plan in collaboration with client, navigate community resources, and make referrals for appropriate care and services.*This peer position is for individuals with lived experiences in common with our target population (history of homelessness, addiction, incarceration, ACEs, or foster care) -This team is ideal for those who want to learn more about care management, community resources, and learn to work with peers to remove barriers and promote wellness. REPAIR Program Enrollment & Facilitation Team *2 semester commitment -In Fall 2025: Work on a team with NI2C’s executive director to learn how to conduct enrollment calls with prospective REPAIR participants, maintain spreadsheets, calendly links, appointments, and email communication with applicants throughout their application to enrollment process. Also help to plan and host info sessions for prospective participants, run internship fest booths, speak to clubs and classes about internship opportunities, and reach out to local organizations about enrolling in REPAIR. -In Spring 2026: Step into a facilitator role in Spring 2026 REPAIR Internship Cohorts. Take on a role of facilitating a few REPAIR sessions, or Zoom hosting to provide tech support, or holding office hours for interns seeking additional support with the curriculum. -This team is ideal for those who want to learn more about how to work with participants 1:1 during enrollment, and work with groups to facilitate mental health psychoeducation and trauma-informed support programs. This team is also ideal for students who need 2 internships, or students who can make an additional commitment beyond graduation. (to be clear, there will be 120 internship hours = 3 academic credits each semester, fall 2025 & spring 2026) Program Research & Evaluation Team -Work on a team with supervisors from the Emerging Leadership Council to learn how to evaluate the effectiveness of programs. Through methods such as interviews, surveys, and more, utilize data from participants to present findings about program impact for grant reports and research papers & posters. Make recommendations based on the data for program changes and improvements. -This team is ideal for those who want to learn more about research, program improvement, quality control, and research methods. Research Articles Publication Team -Work on a team with supervisors from the Emerging Leadership Council to learn how to write original research on mental health and public health topics related to trauma and recovery. Learn to write informatively and supportively for a general audience, and end the semester with several articles published on NI2C’s website. Also learn how to write, edit, design layout, and publish NI2C’s annual report.

Opportunity Training 

Students will be supervised by a project team leader who will train their teams on the specific responsibilities. Most of the work is done collaboratively so students can learn together.
