Organization Description

The Lassen County Health and Social Services (HSS) Agency promotes physical and emotional health to the people of Lassen County through quality, accessible services and resources.

Departments within HSS include Administration, Behavioral Health, Community Social Services, Environmental Health, Grants and Loans, Public Guardian and Public Health.

HSS departments offer numerous programs and services to meet the health and social services needs of the communities we serve.

Program Information

Skills student is expected to learn: Outreach and Engagement, Registrations, Case management, Rehabilitation, Crisis services, Facilitating Groups, Learning Title 9 regulations & Welfare and Insituation Codes, Behavioral Health Services Act, Laws/Ethics, HIPAA, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, ASIST (Suicide Prevention Training) working with diverse populations.  

The student intern should have a willingness to work with difficult populations that are very diverse and in various states of crisis (severe mental illness, unsheltered, substance abuse issues).  Also, willingness to work with individuals who consistently drop out of services. Student needs to have superb time management skills and can multi-task. Student needs to have skills on working with their own wellness.
