Opportunity Summary 

Unique Daycare, located in Oakland, CA, is offering Cal State East Bay students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a licensed early childhood education setting. Students will support classroom teachers with daily routines, lesson preparation, and child-centered activities, while also developing skills in classroom management, observation of developmental milestones, and family engagement. This experiential learning position provides direct exposure to the unique needs of children from diverse and low-income backgrounds, including those served through childcare subsidy programs. Opportunity Training 

Students will receive an orientation covering Unique Daycare’s policies, safety procedures, and daily routines. Training will include hands-on guidance in classroom management, child engagement strategies, developmental observation, and age-appropriate activity facilitation. Students will also be introduced to best practices in early childhood education, including communication with families and cultural competency.

Unique Daycare follows all state and local licensing regulations to ensure a safe environment for children, staff, and students. All students participating in this opportunity will be required to complete a background check, provide proof of immunizations (including TB clearance), and complete mandatory health and safety training prior to working with children. Our site maintains strict safety protocols, including secure entry and exit procedures, child supervision policies, and emergency preparedness plans for fire, earthquake, and other incidents. Students will be trained on proper sanitation, hygiene practices, and child safety guidelines to reduce health risks and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
