School on Wheels
Since 1993, the mission of School on Wheels has never wavered: to enhance educational opportunities for children who are experiencing homelessness from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Our goal is to shrink the gaps in their learning and provide them with the highest level of education possible. Our program serves as a consistent support system for our students during a time of great stress and fear.
We serve students experiencing homelessness from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Parents can sit through the sessions, but they do not have to. There will be times when it is just the student tutoring the student alone. But our sessions are virtual, and we take precautions, such as recording our sessions for the safety of our tutors and students.
I meet with my tutor in the beginning when I connect them with their student, and I am present for the first session. After that, I do not attend the sessions, but I check in regularly and am always available if a tutor wants to meet with me.
- Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
- Must be 18 or older
Our normal hours of operation are 8am - 5pm, but tutoring sessions can be on weekends or after those hours as well. Your coordinator will move their schedule around to make it work for your schedule.
