Program Information

The Cultural Academic Resource Centers (CARC) at Sacramento State serve as vital resource hubs, cultivating a vibrant and inclusive community. These centers support students throughout their academic journeys, providing affirming spaces that celebrate their experiences and foster a strong sense of belonging. By empowering students to pursue their academic and career goals, the CARCs play a pivotal role in shaping their college experience—helping them grow as engaged scholars and future leaders.

Placement opportunities are currently available within the following centers:

  • Asian Pacific Islander Desi Center (Lassen Hall, Room 2200)
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Center (Lassen Hall 2201)
  • Multicultural Center (Library 1010)
  • Parents & Families Program (Lassen Hall 1010)
  • Pride Center (University Union 2230)
  • Southwest Asian and North African Center (AIRC 1012)
  • Veterans Success Center (Lassen Hall, Room 2302)
  • Women’s Resource Center (University Union 2250)

Students placed within the CARCs will engage in a range of direct service, program development, and administrative activities. Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing front-line student support and resource referrals related to basic needs, mental health, and academic support
  • Assisting with case management-informed support for students
  • Planning and implementing educational workshops and community-building programs
  • Supporting cross-collaborative CARC programming and services
  • Conducting outreach and engagement efforts through tabling, presentations, and classroom visits
  • Assisting with data collection and assessment, including survey distribution, participation tracking, and program evaluation
  • Contributing to marketing and communications through social media, newsletters, and Canva materials
  • Participating in staff meetings, trainings, and reflective supervision

Hours of operation 

The CARC centers operate during standard university business hours, with additional evening programming opportunities. Typical Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Evening Programs: Occasional events between 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (e.g., workshops, celebrations) Weekend Opportunities: Limited, based on special events (e.g., Admitted Student Day, Family Weekend) Students will work with their site supervisor to develop a flexible and consistent schedule that aligns with their academic requirements and availability
