Opportunity Summary 

PADRE Foundation is committed to improving the lives of families living with Type 1 diabetes through education, resources, and community support. The Program Assistant plays a vital role in advancing this mission by planning and delivering impactful educational programs, supporting caregivers and families navigating diabetes care, identifying top donors to strengthen relationships and begin planning the details for the fundraiser of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute the educational “Back to School” program from start to finish, including outreach, registration, agenda, speakers, on-site logistics and feedback
  • Support programs for families living with type 1 diabetes, including In-Person Caregiver session and “Pump Basics” class for those exploring insulin pump therapy
  • Create a welcoming and supportive experience for participants, ensuring programs meet the needs of both newly diagnosed and experienced families
  • Collect and evaluate participant feedback and data to enhance program quality and impact
  • Research and identify key donors, understanding their connection to the mission and opportunities for deeper engagement
  • Develop and implement meaningful donor recognition and stewardship strategies to build long-term relationships within the community

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment
  • Passion for supporting families affected by Type 1 diabetes and advancing patient-centered care

Program: Monitor registration, type up agenda, make copies of handouts, set up room, collect surveys and analyze feedback.
In person classes: Confirm attendance, participate in class with own experiences, encourage new families to participate in PADRE events.
Donors: Analyze data and create reports including information about donors, why they donate, and provide suggestions on how to move them to the next level of donations.

The training for this position will include daily instructions for each task. There will be weekly briefings to cover what was completed and what is expected the following week. Upon completion of the program, class or presentation of analysis there will be a debriefing to discuss feedback and ideas for future programs.

By the end of the internship the student will know how to plan and execute a meeting from creating the vision to collecting feedback and analyzing the data of who was in attendance.
Upon completion of the program of in person classes the student will have created a connection with the families which will in turn encourage at least 50% of the class to engage in the following months event.
At the end of the internship, the student will present and analyze the top 10% of donations, who they come from, why they donate to PADRE Foundation and how to up their donations.
