Opportunity Summary 

Come join our team as an intern to have opportunities at a neurorehabilitation program. This serves as an opportunity to learn more about acquired brain injury population including traumatic brain injury. The intensive comprehensive rehabilitation assists individuals with their neurological recovery and reintegration back into the community. This entails working with an interdisciplinary team that includes Physiatrist, Neuro-Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Clinical Specialist, Operations Manager, Physical Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and CTRS.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, students will learn how to complete initial assessments of the client, establish and write treatment goals, and track the goals objectively using a SMART format to ensure the client is making progress towards those goals. The student will have obtained knowledge of neurological recovery in a post acute neurorehabilitation program. The student will have opportunity to fully understand the role of a CTRS in an interdisciplinary brain injury treatment team. The student will have opportunity to learn how the skills the clients learn in a structured clinic setting and how that client can generalize those skills in the community setting.

Opportunity Training 

Training would include new hire orientation training, classes and modules. There would be opportunity for them to learn about brain injury recovery and the population served.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

As described in the previous page, this is a healthcare facility and there are some safety risks involved due to the acuity of our clients we serve. There would be training from the physical therapist to ensure proper mechanics are used when working with a client.

Opportunity Application Instructions 

The student would need to directly contact the Clinical Specialist at the designated program. The student would send their resume to the CS. They would then set up an interview with the CS and CTRS in the program to determine if the student is an appropriate candidate. If so, then the student would complete a background check physical examination to include a drug screen and TB test. If all clear, then the student and program would determine a start date.
