Peer Health Navigators for selfsea communities (volunteer opp for 18-24): Are you (or do you know) a young adult passionate about health equity? Peer Health Exchange is gearing up to launch selfsea communities, a space built with and for young people. We're looking for young adult volunteers (ages 18-24) to facilitate inclusive and welcoming online discussion forums about mental health, sexual health, identity, and more! How to facilitate conversations on mental health, identity, sexual health, and more! How to build community in an online space. How to communicate effectively with 13-18 year olds How to use affirming and inclusive language How to refer resources
Each person receives up to 4 weeks of "pre-service' training that covers their roles and responsibilities in depth, and trains them on how to use our digital product, how to respond to users (13-18 year olds), and provides a culture of care and support. Students will also attend a weekly meeting to participate in ongoing training and development
We screen all content on our app to ensure that our volunteers are not exposed to graphic or triggering content. We perform background checks on all volunteers (free of charge), we provide a monthly processing space, and all of our volunteers are also given access to a free headspace membership during their time with us.
