InternAt — CSU East Bay - Dept. of Communication

Opportunity Summary 

For the California State University, East Bay’s Department of Communication, these internships will provide students with a multimedia experience that can include journalistic writing, journalistic video/photography, sales and marketing, graphic design and photo layout and social media (as applicable through their assignment) through The Pioneer. These experiences prepare students for a professional setting, and to give them a strong portfolio of work as they graduate into the media market. These internships are available on a per semester basis and are repeatable one time. Interns will be eligible for priority consideration for a paid position should a position open and they apply. Some of the Internship positions are available for Early Start / Incoming Freshman as well.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students learn, hands on, the skills and expectations required to be part of a professional organization, in particular a news organization. They develop skills in reporting and/or advertising sales. They assist in the publication of the Pioneer Newspaper on a weekly basis. They can participate in the promotion of Pioneer Media content and advertising through social media. They have the opportunity to learn specific skills such as photography, newspaper layout, editing, and newswriting. Students will also develop their time management skills, professionalism, create/hone their marketing and customer service personas.
