Natural Resources Assistant - Bureau of Land Management (BLM)At — Bureau of Land Management (BLM)

Opportunity Summary

Join BLM staff to conduct a variety of land management projects on Fort Ord National Monument. The landscape includes an abundant diversity of plant and animals across streamside corridors, grasslands, maritime chaparral, oak woodlands and seasonal pools. Students will learn plant and animal ecology while conducting plant surveys, restoring habitats, collecting native plant seeds, and more.

We are seeking individuals who are interested in a physically active position working outdoors in 4 to 5-hour shifts. There will always be at least one BLM staff member accompanying students into the field. BLM staff members will provide transportation, site safety expertise, equipment, and leadership to service learners. Our goal is for service learners to have hands-on experience as possible while BLM staff members provide safety supervision, general direction, and plant identification assistance. Thus, students can learn and engage with the monument while remaining safe and productive. We will also provide information on weather conditions, appropriate clothing, and safety procedures.
