We're seeking an enthusiastic Social Media and Communications Intern to join our exciting partnership with a local social enterprise. Together, we're fueling a Green Workforce Program that combines zero waste initiatives with empowerment for formerly incarcerated individuals. We need your creativity, your voice, and your vision. As our intern, you'll be the digital heartbeat of a movement, sharing stories of renewal, resilience, and real impact. Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Understanding of Social Justice and Sustainability: Students will gain an in-depth comprehension of the intersection between social justice, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment, particularly as it relates to formerly incarcerated individuals. Communication Skills: Students will enhance their written and verbal communication abilities by creating and managing content across various social media platforms, ensuring it aligns with the organization's mission and goals. 3. Application of Marketing Strategies: Students will learn to apply marketing principles and analytics in developing and implementing targeted social media campaigns, maximizing engagement with different audience segments. 4. Collaborative Teamwork and Leadership: Students will cultivate skills in working collaboratively with diverse team members and community stakeholders, while also developing leadership competencies under direct supervision. 5. Ethical Considerations in Communication: Students will understand and apply ethical guidelines in communication, especially in the context of social justice and community engagement, ensuring that the dignity and voice of all individuals are respected. 6. Project Management Skills: Students will gain hands-on experience in managing projects from concept to completion, including planning, executing, and evaluating social media initiatives, aligning them with organizational objectives. 7. Opportunity Training 

Yes! We will provide an initial orientation and a series of introductory meetings. We will either directly train on the following concepts or provide resources for the intern to self-study and implement. The intern will spend the first couple of weeks learning and training. Introduction to the Organization and Program: An overview of your organization's mission, values, and specific goals related to the Green Workforce Program. Understanding the context of social justice, environmental stewardship, and the support for formerly incarcerated individuals. Social Media Management Tools: Training on the tools and platforms used for managing and analyzing social media content, such as Hootsuite, Buffer, or Google Analytics. Content Creation and Storytelling: Guidance on how to create engaging content that resonates with your audience, including writing, graphics, video production, and storytelling techniques that align with your organization's voice and mission. Community Engagement Principles: Instructions on how to interact with community members, stakeholders, and online followers in a manner that's respectful, inclusive, and aligns with the principles of community engagement. Marketing and Branding Guidelines: Clear guidelines on the brand's voice, style, and marketing strategies, ensuring consistent and effective communication. Ethical Guidelines and Compliance: Education on legal and ethical considerations in social media and communications, including privacy policies, copyright laws, and ethical communication with marginalized communities. Project Management Skills: Training on how to plan, execute, and evaluate social media projects and campaigns, including timelines, goals, and evaluation metrics. Cultural Competency Training: Understanding the diverse backgrounds and unique needs of the community you serve, with a focus on empathy, equity, and inclusion. Accessibility Considerations: Training on making content accessible to all, including those with disabilities, ensuring that digital content is inclusive. Sustainability and Environmental Awareness: Specific training related to zero waste initiatives, environmental policies, and the principles underlying the green workforce movement.
