Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

how to provides initial health screening of campers, direct nursing care to campers and staff: This includes but not limited to, patient reports, first aid treatment, supervised care of patients, support decision making regarding health needs, support campers experiencing mental, emotional and behavioral crisis. Responds to emergencies according to BLS and Red Cross training, and activates EMS when appropriate. Within scope of practice and safety guidelines support clinical assessments, dispensing of medication and other duties. Assists in care of campers experiencing seizures; identifies need for treatment versus supportive care based on camper’s seizure plan. Follows appropriate medical safety procedures, including: universal and blood-borne pathogen precautions, disposal of medical waste and medications, keeping medications locked up. Assists with daily medication management, administration, and evaluation using 5 Rights. Record Keeping: this includes: collection of forms, documentation of assessment, admission, medicine administration and incidents according to ACA standards and state codes and completion of accident/incident reports. Supports counselors by assisting with ADLs in lodges, participating in camp activities such as swimming, sports, crafts, hiking, and providing first aid when needed.
