UI/UX Designer Intern – SMILE ProjectAt — PKNIC, Inc

Opportunity Summary 

PKNIC is offering an unpaid, remote internship opportunity for graduate students to join the SMILE Project as a UI/UX Designer. Students will work on developing scalable design systems, conducting user research with K–12 teachers and students, and creating intuitive, accessible interfaces to support inquiry-based learning. This role provides hands-on experience in human-centered design, collaboration with developers and education experts, and the integration of AI-driven learning features. Participants will build a strong professional portfolio and gain valuable skills in cross-cultural, global EdTech environments.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive onboarding training on PKNIC’s design workflow, digital collaboration tools (Figma, Miro, Slack, Notion), and accessibility guidelines. Training will include an orientation to the SMILE Project’s objectives, weekly design critique sessions, and mentoring from senior designers.

 

 

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

This is a remote internship. Students will perform all responsibilities virtually using secure online platforms. No physical or on-site safety concerns apply.
