Opportunity Training 

Orientation & Onboarding Introduction to Mindful Neuron: mission, services, clients, team structure, and policies (e.g. confidentiality, HIPAA, cultural sensitivity). Tour of the facility (physical and digital), introduction to staff, and overview of volunteer role expectations. Review of organizational handbook, volunteer policies, and safety procedures. Ethics & Confidentiality Training on client privacy, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and mandated reporting. Discussion of ethical guidelines from psychology / counseling professions. Case studies or role-plays to practice responding to sensitive scenarios (e.g. disclosure, boundaries). Cultural Competency & Inclusion Workshops or modules on cultural humility, responsive practices, and serving diverse populations. Training on how cultural and linguistic factors may influence assessment, communication, and outreach. Implicit bias awareness and strategies to promote equity and respectful engagement. Administrative & Technical Skills Demonstration and practice in using data systems, resource databases, scheduling platforms, or EHR (if applicable). Guidance on preparing assessment materials, organizing forms, scanning, copying, data entry, and record keeping. Procedures for handling resources, supplies, and documentation. Observation & Shadowing Assign the volunteer to shadow staff members (in nonconfidential settings) to see how evaluations, consultation, or outreach are carried out. Guided debrief after observation to discuss what was seen, reflect on practices, and ask questions. Workshop / Outreach Preparation Training on how to co-facilitate or support workshops, seminars, or educational outreach (e.g. how to present material, engage participants, logistics). Instruction in adapting materials for different developmental levels or audiences. Practice runs or mock sessions, with feedback from staff.
