CRLA Operations Internship At — California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated undergraduate or graduate student to join CRLA’s statewide Operations team. This internship will be based in our Modesto office, with a flexible schedule of up to 20 hours per week. The intern will report to the Project Manager and the Vice President of Operations & CFO. This role is designed for students pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Facility Management, Project Management or related fields, with the opportunity to gain applied experience in nonprofit finance and operations.
Responsibilities
• Property Tax Exemption Project: Lead research and analysis on nonprofit property tax exemptions; complete exemption filings for CRLA-owned properties.
• Satellite Office Transition Project: Assist with project management, including researching comparable models, compiling best practices, and presenting findings to leadership. • Business Process Improvement: Analyze existing operational workflows (e.g., vendor management, procurement, travel) and propose recommendations for efficiency.
• Accounting & Financial Analysis: Work with finance team on accounting projects, such as expense analysis, financial reconciliations, or budget variance tracking. • Cross-Department Collaboration: Support HR, IT, and facilities-related tasks as needed, gaining exposure to multiple aspects of organizational operations.
Qualifications
• Current student with a major in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong analytical, research, and presentation skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel skills highly desirable.
• Self-starter with ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Interest in the nonprofit or public sector a plus. Benefits
