ParaprofessionalAt — Tomorrows Leadership Collaborative

TLC is an inclusion model public charter school. Paraprofessionals will work with individual students and small groups of students in the classroom and throughout the school day. Paraprofessionals will assist students under the direction of teachers to reinforce learning and support student participation in class.

We are looking for candidates who are eager to implement strategies and practices that support student engagement with peers and with learning content, using a whole child approach to education. Candidates must be open to supporting students of all ability levels and skills, including students with physical and/or cognitive disabilities in an inclusive learning environment.

Tasks:

• Work with individual students and small groups of students in the classroom and throughout the school day.
• Assist students under the direction of teachers to reinforce learning and support student participation in class.
• Implement strategies and practices that support student engagement with peers and with learning content, using a whole child approach to education.
• Supporting students of all ability levels and skills, including students with physical and/or cognitive disabilities in an inclusive learning environment.
• Facilitating positive peer interactions and guided play

Training:

• Initial general employer training.
• Monthly ParaAcademy on a variety of topics, disability awareness, trauma informed practice, behavior essentials, academic supports, guided play.
• Daily group debriefings and collaboration.

Learning Outcome:

• Apply psychological theories and methods applicable to school aged children.
• Analyze personal development through onsite experience along with journal and readings.
• Understand diverse social and cultural experiences and how they impact student and adult behavior.
