Opportunity Summary

This is a remote volunteer opportunity where volunteers will be matched 1:1 with an older adult and provide weekly phone visits. Volunteers are required to call their matched older adult once, no more than twice a week, for a minimum of a 3 month commitment. Phone calls can last anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour and volunteers are required to submit feedback on our LBFE Volunteer Log Form.

Opportunity Training

All volunteers/students will need to sign up for a one-time virtual volunteer orientation (sign up on our website), followed by signing required forms and completing a background check.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity

N/A as these are simply phone check-ins with older adults. Some conversation topics may be difficult for volunteers (e.g., an older adult is feeling more depressed or wants to just vent to a volunteer), but they can certainly reach out to staff at any time for support.

Opportunity Application Instructions

All volunteers/students will need to sign up for a one-time virtual volunteer orientation (sign up on our website), followed by signing required forms and completing a background check. Background check is self-pay or costs can be covered by LBFE.
