Opportunity Summary 

Our site prides itself on providing and excellent internship experience preparing students to be employed as Recreation Therapists at the end of their internship. Students have an opportunity to work with 10 different recreation therapists and complete all the tasks required of a Recreation Therapist.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of the internship, students will have learned how to complete patient assessment, using interview, observation and chart review. Students will have mastered the electronic medical record and completed screenings, group progress notes, patient education and treatment plan. Student will be trained to develop group content and facilitate therapeutic groups.

Opportunity Training 

Students will recieve managment of assaultive behavior training, CPR training, Training to navigate the electronic medical record, training on the completion of screening forms, group progress notes, pt education form and treatment plans. In addition training and supervision regarding developing group content and leading therapeutic groups including processing experiences and documentation.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Safety is our number one priority, responsibility is given incrementally, safety training regarding managment of assaultive behavior, contraband and self injurious behavior is provided.
