Program Description:
Caliber: Beta Academy is a free, public, non-selective K-8 school in Richmond. Our mission is to provide a high quality education program by combining the rigor and high expectations of a no excuses charter school with the personalization and data driven education that can come from a blended learning environment and the critical thinking and collaborative skills that can be learned through projects.
Caliber’s core components include: high expectations, personalized learning plans (PLP) for every student, exceptional teaching and instructional leadership, a rigorous and relevant curriculum, and a supportive school community based on rights, responsibilities, and respect.
We believe that the ability to successfully integrate these different components into one school model will challenge the current stasis and move the field of next generation learning forward. In addition, our focus on computer programming as part of the core curriculum is unprecedented. Caliber will equip students with a skill that is in high demand in today and tomorrow’s economy. We are equally excited about the logical thought process taught through computer programming as a skill necessary for most any professional or academic pursuit.
