Program Description:
The Adult Case Management program provides diagnostic assessment and treatment for adults who have chronic and persistent mental illness. This includes:
- Assessing and diagnosing adults with chronic and persistent mental illness
- Developing comprehensive treatment plans for adults with chronic and persistent mental illness
- Working on a multi-disciplinary treatment team of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychiatric nurses, peer providers, social workers, psychologists, Marriage & Family Therapists, and family partners
- Providing field-based services
- Working with families of adults with chronic and persistent mental illness
- Working with community partners

Primary Issues that the Program Addresses:
The Adult Case Management team addresses the case management needs of severely mentally ill clients.

Populations and Clientele Served:
Adult Case Management works with all clients age 18 and up who meet the criteria for Severe Mental Illness. We have a special focus on the underserved and culturally diverse populations of Marin, in particular African American, monolingual Spanish-speaking, and monolingual Vietnamese-speaking residents of the County.

Intern Assignments and Learning Opportunities:
Interns have a small caseload (5 for BA/1st year MSW students & 10 for 2nd year MSW students) of clients. They receive weekly individual supervision, as well as weekly group supervision. They co-facilitate groups with a doctoral interns, such as Seeking Safety.

Other Specialized Training and Educational Opportunities:
Interns can attend any training offered by the County of Marin. Regular trainings offered by the County are Motivational Interviewing, Cultural Competence, and Trauma-Informed Care. Interns can do observational shifts on the Crisis Stabilization Unit (formerly known as Psychiatric Emergency Services) at the Marin General Hospital campus.

$4000 for academic year for BASW and 1st year MSW students & $6000 for academic year for 2nd MSW year students may be available. Stipends are given to students of color, preferably African American, bilingual/bicultural Spanish-speakers, or bilingual/bicultural Vietnamese-speakers. Bilingual students receive a $100 per month bilingual stipend.
