Organization Description

BAYC ‘s mission is to prepare youth for a successful, healthy adult life using a youth development approach. Our Space Mission Statement In partnership with LGBTQ youth, adults and allies, Our Space creates safe and affirming space where LGBTQ youth can socialize, build community, develop leadership skills and access culturally relevant mental health services. Our Space holds the experiences, strengths and needs of youth impacted by poverty, homelessness and the child welfare and juvenile justice systems at its core, and recognizes these youth as fierce and fabulous change-agents in our communities.

Program Information

The intern will work directly with LGBTQ youth ages 14 - 24, providing programming and assisting with crisis support and referrals, and may assist with program development and outreach. If the intern is interested in developing case managment or clinical skills, there may be an opportunity for this as well. Our preference is to have an intern who identifies as part of the LGBTQ community or as an ally to this community (we would like the intern to already have competency around LGBTQ issues).
