Organization Description

The Richmond High School (RHS) Based Health Center provides confidential reproductive health services, general physical and mental health counseling to all youth attending RHS. The Center additionally coordinates and provides several youth development programs through collaborating with CBO's. Program examples include: Expect/Respect domestic violence support group, Yound Women's Group, My Strength! All male group, Friday Night Live alcohol prevention group and Grief Group.

Program Information

The Law Academy and Health Academy Students of RHS would like to do classroom presentations regarding the Health Center services. Students will discuss the importantce of reaching out for Mental Helath Support and getting tested for STD's. Project #2: Assist Law Academy students with the set up of their "Covered California Enrollment Center". The Students have researched and learned about the Covered Califroinia Website and various Health Care options that are available. The students want to be able to enroll their peers in Health Coverage and Expanded Medi-cal programs through the CC Website. The Health Ed Intern would assist with recruitment and organization of a Youth Advisory Board (YAB). Facilitate meetings with students and help students to acheive their project goals. Provide lead direction and organization to the student projects. Help plan YAB meetings. Assist with doing classroom presentations on various health education topics and promotion of the health center services.
