Organization Description

UCSF has long recognized the need for focus, compassion and innovation in women’s health care. The National Center of Excellence was founded to correct historical imbalances in health care while acting as a catalyst for change in women's health. The mission of the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health is to advance the health and well-being of women and girls from diverse communities in San Francisco. Through building partnerships with diverse communities the CoE is able to strengthen its activities in clinical care, research, leadership, and education.

Program Information

Assist to expand health and personal development opportunities for SF young women from diverse communities as well as to increase the number of young women from these communities who chose to become involved in women’s health. Our programs for young women are based on a positive youth development model. The programs provide experiences which foster resilience, self-determination, self-efficacy, a clear and positive identity and a belief in the future by promoting bonding, social, emotional, cognitive, behavioral and moral competence and providing opportunities for pro-social involvement and recognition for positive engagement. The intern from SFSU will assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the YSC, YWHLS & Innovators.
