Hayward Public Library

Program Information

Through a unique partnership between the City of Hayward and Hayward Unified School District, Hayward Public Library offers after-school Homework Support Center services at local elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and Library locations. Centers feature access to 21st century learning tools, homework supplies, and on-site trained volunteer tutors who assist students in small groups with their homework needs. The Hayward Public Library’s Homework Support Center is seeking volunteer tutors who have a commitment to education and a passion for working with children and young adults.

Requirements:
This position requires a person with the following knowledge and skills:
 The ability to communicate effectively with adolescents, young adults, and library personnel
 The ability to write clearly and concisely
 Strong organizational skills
 Computer and Internet literacy
 Familiarity with how to use Library resources and materials
 Lower and upper division mathematics skills
 A flexible schedule
 A team player
 Self-motivation/direction
 Sensitivity to diverse cultures and populations
