Child Advocates of Silicon Valley

Organization Description

Child Advocates of Silicon Valley is an independent nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization created in 1986. We serve children aged birth to 21 years old who are placed in the Santa Clara County Dependency Court System for having experienced trauma in the form of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment. We are responsible for operating the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program in Santa Clara County according to the national guidelines, which entails recruiting, training and supporting CASA Volunteers. We are an affiliate of the National CASA Association.

Program Information

Child Advocates works to ensure every foster child in Silicon Valley, who has been abused, neglected and/or abandoned, has the nurturing support and resources needed to thrive. We do this by recruiting, training and supporting adult community members to become Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children and youth ages 0-21. Volunteers will be working with both the Programs Department and Learning Department in supporting CASA Volunteers with their advocacy. Most of the Programs Department support will focus on helping the Ages 0-5 and Ages 6-12 Specialty programs.

Possible Activities:
-Support in planning in-person and virtual activities and events
-Administrative work (data entry and database clean up)
-Processing reports
-Gathering resources and/or creating resource lists
-Organizing our CASA store and supporting CASAs and their youth during their store visits
-Mailing items to volunteers
