This is a virtual internship opportunity. 

The Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy is a Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) research center dedicated to exploring and illuminating the intersection of press, politics and public policy in theory and practice.

The HKS Misinformation Review at the Harvard Kennedy School is looking for a detail-oriented digital publishing intern for Spring 2021.

The intern will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and will have the opportunity to learn about academic journal management, scientific publishing standards, and the editorial and publication process within a high-calibre research environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in scholarly publishing, open access/science, and/or scholarly communications to hone their scholarly and professional skills in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will possess analytical, critical analysis, and superior organizational skills.

Individual responsibilities will be determined with the supervisor based on strengths, previous work experience and interests, and the journal’s current needs. They may include:

  • Assist with journal indexing to increase readership and discoverability
  • Perform layout and formatting tasks as needed
  • Update and maintain various databases central to the journal’s operations
  • Shepherd manuscripts through peer review and support the editorial workflow as needed
  • Participate in bi-weekly editorial meetings
