Organization Description

City of Saratoga, an attractive residential community, is known for its high quality of life and distinctive businesses, boasting some of the best schools in the nation. The City's mission is to provide essential municipal services which protect health, safety and welfare, and satisfy the community's desires to maintain its quality of life and property values while practicing fiscal responsibility. Incorporated in 1956, City Departments include City Manager's Office/Community Services, Finance and Administration, Community Development, and Public Works, and is served by a variety of public agency partners.

Program Information

Tasks/activities student will be performing:

  • Assist with planning City-wide in-person and virtual events and public activities
  • Support City Commission initiatives and work-plans, including Youth Commission, Public Art, and others
  • Assist with the City-wide Volunteer program and employee wellness activities
  • Community Engagement strategies and research for future program planning.

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned:

  • Basic principles for planning public events, including budgeting, logistics, communication and relationship-building with key community partners, and volunteer management
  • Interrelationship of City departments and outside service partners
  • Understanding City administration procedures and policies
  • Gain skills in research and analysis.
