Public county law library

Program Information

Internship details:

Reference: The reference desk puts interns in the "hot seat" where they will learn to distinguish between giving reference assistance and legal advice. Many of our patrons are self represented and require assistance in understanding court procedures, finding relevant forms, and locating relevant legal analysis.

Outreach: The law library partners with the Seattle Public Library and the King County Library System to amplify the depth and breadth of the law library's reach. The law library has on-going roster of workshops for civil litigation and family law litigation.  We also continually create new programs and workshops.  The outreach services component will give the intern experience with the creation, administration, and presentation of workshops and the production of legal self-help videos and other outreach tools.

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned...

About the creation, administration, and presentation of workshops and the production of legal self-help videos and other outreach tools; the difference between giving reference assistance and legal advice.
