Organization Description

Ujima Adult and Family Services is an African centered behavioral health and social support non-profit agency. Our mission statement: To improve the lives of African’s by providing an African centered behavioral health and support services to the African community. African centered services incorporate African history (Africa and the U.S.) and cultural norms and values and make them the center from which all activities are formed. We advocate on multiple levels to improve and challenge the policies and services in the community.

Health & Safety

Safety Plan:

  1. All student’s orientations include contact information for supervisor and agency Executive Director/Safety officer.
  2. Clients with any history of assaultive behavior are not assigned to student interns/service learning.
  3. Students report any behaviors or interactions with clients that make them feel uncomfortable. The supervisor and student will discuss and review.  If further action is needed the client will be removed from the student’s caseload.
Additional requirements and/or considerations
  • Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
  • TB Test
  • POPULATION SERVED: Students will be working with "behaviorally challenged" populations.
