SJSU's Healthy Development Community Clinic
At SJSU’s Healthy Development Community Clinic (HDCC), student training and service are at the heart of everything we do. Our graduate and undergraduate trainees make our work possible, providing culturally-responsive, trauma-informed care while gaining hands-on, interdisciplinary experience.
Through their efforts, HDCC engages the community with programs such as parent workshops, after-school initiatives, and community events, all designed to support holistic wellness for children, youth, and families. By integrating student learning with service, we foster connections, build resilience, and promote equity, ensuring that families have access to free, high-quality support regardless of common barriers to care.
HDCC staff and partners are expected to remain alert, respectful, and responsible in all work settings while following site-specific safety protocols. Team members should promptly report any unsafe conditions, hazards, or incidents to HDCC staff and refrain from working when ill, particularly with contagious symptoms. Good hygiene—such as frequent handwashing and sanitizing—is essential, as is adherence to public health guidance, including masking or distancing when required. Professional boundaries with children, youth, and families must be maintained at all times; participants should never be transported or engaged in private, unsupervised settings. Any safety concerns, accidents, or incidents should be reported immediately to HDCC staff, and incident reports completed as requested to ensure proper documentation and follow-up.
