Organization Description

B.O.O.K (Building Our Own Kids) Academy is a community service provided through the Maranatha Outreach Center in San Jose, Ca.. It is where children, youth and their families can receive educational knowledge, academic and homework assistance, social emotional well-being and community support. Our Vision is a community where all children feel loved, respected and encouraged to develop to their fullest potential. We are committed to the families we serve, providing support and encouragement. We aim to support and nurture all children's natural desire to be life-long learners.

Health & Safety

We do not allow volunteers to photograph or videotape the children in the program. Also, all contact outside of the program is forbidden. This includes gathering personal information(such as cell phone#. texting and/or school or home info), friending on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X. Snapchat, TikTok or ANY other social media. All communication should only occur inside of the program scheduled times.

  • Computer Literacy
  • Health Check/Screening (e.g. temperature screening, COVID-19 test)
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Pre-Placement Training
