Friends of Children with Special Needs ( FCSN )
FCSN’s mission is to support individuals with special needs and their families by fostering love, hope, respect, and inclusion through community engagement. We provide information, resources, and a variety of activities—including social recreation, education, and therapeutic programs—for children and adults with special needs. FCSN also creates meaningful opportunities to give back through volunteer work and employment. Guided by families helping families, we promote peer support, diversity, innovation, and collaboration, while striving to create a safe, caring, and fun environment where everyone can learn, grow, and belong.
Students will have the opportunity to work with individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviors, such as verbal outbursts, resistance to instructions, or difficulty with transitions. This experience is designed to help students understand the types of behaviors they might encounter when working with individuals with special needs. Students are not expected to manage or intervene in these behaviors, as trained FCSN staff will be onsite to provide support and guidance at all times.
All students are required to complete a Live Scan background check before participating. For privacy and safety, students must obtain permission from site staff before taking any photos or videos.
- Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
- POPULATION SERVED: Students will be working with "behaviorally challenged" populations.
