San Quentin Museum and Archives

Organization Description

The San Quentin Museum & Archives (SQMA) preserves, documents, and interprets the history of San Quentin Rehabilitation Center and its connection to Marin County and California. As a charitable and educational organization, SQMA responsibly stewards its historic museum and archival collections, providing meaningful educational experiences and access to historical resources for the public, educators, researchers, and San Quentin stakeholders while advancing professional standards of preservation, transparency, and accountability.

Health & Safety

Although the San Quentin Museum & Archives is located within the San Quentin Rehabilitation Center complex, it is situated in an area separate from the inmate population, before the secured areas of the facility. Museum visitors do not interact with incarcerated individuals.
