Program Information Foster Care:
Children placed in foster care need foster families who will provide a positive, healthy and safe environment. (Remembering always the need to be respectful of the birth family.) We are dedicated to working with our 60 plus foster families to achieve a positive experience for every foster child and their family. In Butte and Shasta County we have a dedicated staff of social workers that offer a distinctive family centered approach to foster care. Both offices provide a full range of support services to children, their birth families, and our own exceptional foster parents. Our goal is permanence.
Shelter Care:
In Butte County, we deliver a receiving program for Child Services Division to provide 12 beds of Shelter Care. This program is a crucial first step in allowing time for workers to make positive choices for children and their families. Our shelter foster parents accept children into their homes 7 days a week, 24 hours a day for short-term care and assessment. Our shelter social workers are committed to working with the county personnel, foster families, and birth families in the process of gathering information, assessing the available options, and making the next critical decision in the best interests of the child and their family.
Independent Living Programs (ILP):
Butte & Shasta County foster youth face a difficult transition into adulthood. Our goal is to assist them by providing resources and skills that will enable these young adults to succeed in their daily living during and after they have left foster care. We provide an active support system that effectively prepares them in their employment skills, health and safety, banking, money management and budgeting, consumer purchasing, loans and contracts, time management, interpersonal skills and hygiene, home maintenance and knowledge of community resources. In the teens' initial transition plan, ILP workers strive to establish a support network as we help them plan their short and long term goals.
